The goodness of God, started with the story of Eve in the garden. Although, she is known for allowing sin to enter the world, God’s promises of being a good Father still stands to be true. It is important to recognize the goodness of God in your life so that you can move from just doing life to actually producing life, like Eve in the Garden.

The Goodness of God- My Dream

One night while lying in bed, I asked the Lord how He wanted me to see Eve in the garden of Eden. That night, I dreamt about being in a house with several women. We all wore beautiful colorful dresses and were dancing. Towards the end of the evening, an old mentor of mine appeared to me in the dream and said “I will say good bye to these ladies” and I responded with “I will tell them good night because they are my children and I love them.”

Initially, I was puzzled about the dream but I wrote it down and asked the Holy Spirit to reveal to me the meaning. He showed me that His goodness was on full display in the garden of Eden and with Eve.

The Identity of God’s Goodness

God’s love is good

God showed that He loves His Eves through this powerful and famous bible verse:

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16

God revealed to me that the dream was about His Eves dancing (celebrating and rejoicing with Him in the garden). Since my ministry is about helping women to mother themselves after trauma and mother wounds, He showed me that I was a mother to the women that were dancing. As my children, I would tell them good night or rather good “EVE”-nig because I love them. God was essentially saying from the dream:

Jen, the Eve’s in my garden are good because of my goodness! My goodness says that I loved the world so much that I was willing to give up my Son so that my Eves would live with me in the garden forever!

Goodness of God- God’s redemption story is good

The Lord redeemed the “seed” of Eve. He mentioned to the serpent:

I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring and you shall bruise his heel.”

Eve’s seed would one day crush the serpents head, bringing his evil deeds to a final end. The devil thought that he could be crafty enough to end God’s design of creation being one with the Creator. But God in His infinite ways allowed Eve’s mistake to be for her good and to bring glory to His great name.

God’s plan was good and it involved giving up his only Son to deliver His children and bring them back where it all started- the Garden. The new garden ( new home) is Him living and breathing inside of the hearts of His people.

Jesus crushing the serpents head with His death and resurrection on the cross, kept the garden of Eden alive. Eves ( mothers who bring life) would taste and see that life in the Garden is everlasting. This time, women like Eve will truly see that the tree of life that sat in the garden, is truly good.

Jesus is that tree of life springing forth in us and He is the second Adam that is both God and flesh. As Eves, we are His bone of His bone, and Flesh of His (God’s) flesh. He identifies us as belonging to Him- both Adam (seed from the earth) and Eve (reproducing life) in a holy marriage. He would also bring newness of life and revive the Garden of Eden in the hearts of mothers who are destined to be life-givers.

Goodness of God is hopeful

The Lord protected Eve’s seed by putting enmity between the devil’s seed ( Devil’s offspring or those that commit evil acts ) and Eve’s seed ( the church or Christ followers). This was a prophetic act by the Lord to show the division and war of two kingdoms: God’s kingdom and the Devil and His followers kingdom. God’s kingdom would win and has already won. Through Jesus Christ- the hope of glory, the kingdom of God is now established in our hearts

The kingdom of God is within you and is good!

nor will people say, ‘Look! Here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’ For the kingdom of God is among you [because of My presence]. Luke 17:21

God’s goodness is full of hope. He planted the seed of hope in Eve’s life by putting enmity between two kingdoms. There would no longer be doubts if whether God’s kingdom is good enough because God’s kingdom cannot be divided against itself.

When life becomes difficult or we are not able to get the very things that we desire, we can lean on the seed of hope. Hope says that I trust you God to always love me even through my disappointments.

Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.

Proverbs 13:12

I love this verse because the mystery in it says, God’s hope for us to live in the garden of Eden was deferred, but His fulfilled plans to make our hearts the new garden, became like a tree of life ( Jesus, living and breathing everlasting life inside of us so we would never be separated again).

God’s goodness comes with a promise

In the garden of Eden, there was the tree of life. The tree of life was a foreshadow of God’s presence stretching out to His people. It also had twelve kinds of fruit ( Revelations 22:12). The tree of life if eaten, was the Paradise of God being consumed in a man’s soul( Revelation 2:7).

Jesus is the tree of life. As a life giver, He promised His disciples, “And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever” John 14:16. This was not only a promise ring but an engagement ring that His life-giving presence (the very presence that Adam and Eve felt around them) would be with them forever!

God’s promise was to reconcile with His Eve through His Son Jesus Christ– His desire was fulfilled as a tree of life.
