The other night, I had a dream of a woman that said to me, that she was a kingdom overcomer. I said to the woman, “oh like Priscilla Shirer?” [ from the movie “Overcomer”] but she did not answer the question. When I woke up from the dream, I knew that she was actually talking about me being a kingdom overcomer.

During a tough season of learning to trust in the Lord, God was encouraging me that I would be victorious over every obstacle that came my way. As a result, my faith, hope, and capacity to receive and give love would only increase.

overcomer

Be an over-comer by keeping your eyes on Jesus

To become a kingdom over-comer, it is important to fix your eyes on Jesus. The cares of this world can be a distraction to your walk with God. When you are able to let go of this life (the cares of this world) then you will gain more of Jesus in your life. Similarly to Peter when he was called to walk towards Jesus during a storm, when he kept his eyes on Jesus, he did not sink into the ocean. He defied gravity. But once he put his eyes on the environmental elements (wind, rain, thunder), he immediately became fearful and started to sink into the water.

But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Matthew 14:27-31

How often do we take our eyes off God to focus on the storms of life? As a mother, you might have stormy issues such as your child being sick, financial hang ups, difficulty with a a child that talks back to you, and job loss. Here is the solution, put your focus back on God. But you might say, as you are walking towards God on the water, But, I have all of these problems and you begin sinking in despair.

But God will say,

“O you of little faith, why do you doubt me?” Can I not provide for you? “Can I not heal your sick child? “Can I not restore your relationship with your child as your father?

Sometimes we do doubt God’s abilities, but to live victoriously we need to understand our doubts do not define us. It is how you rise out of the water after sinking that defines you. When God saves you, you respond with His word:

Yes Lord your word says you are my provider in Philippians 4:19 (KJV)  “But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Yes Lord, your word says you are a healer of all things ( relationships and the physical body). In your word, you say Jeremiah 33:6 – Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security.

Tap into God’s Triumphant love for you

If you are wondering if God will love you through tough times then look at His covenant to always be there for you. In His love covenant, God says the following:

  • God has proven His love by sacrificing His son for the sins of the world
  • God does not condemn you to hell ( He stands with you as your advocate)
  • God prays continually for you to overcome your troubles in this life
  • Nothing in your lifetime or beyond will ever separate you from God’s love

Yet even in the midst of all these things ( pressures and troubles in life), we triumph over them all, for God has made us to be more than conquerors, and his demonstrated love is our glorious victory over everything.

Romans 8:37

The solution to living a life of victory is to realize that God’s love is enough to cover your childhood trauma, emotional pain, and mother wounds. God promises that nothing in your past or future circumstances will stop Him from loving you.

You are a kingdom overcomer when you accept God’s love residing inside of you.

Be expectant for God to do more than what you can think or imagine

Believe God to do infinitely more than what you could ever dream or imagine. Whatever you ask for, God can outdo your request. Therefore, believe for more than what you think God can do for you. Are you looking for God to manifest miracles in your life? Then use expectant language like:

” I am excited to see what comes next”

“God you will show up today”

“By faith I believe for ___ “( fill in the blank)

Be an overcomer with God’s greatness living inside of you

God is all powerful and He lives inside of you to magnify who He is in You! He is great in power, grace, love, beauty, and majesty. When the enemy sends a flood of troubles your ways, combat it with the knowledge that you serve a greater God.

Be an overcomer by not fearing death

You must not be afraid to die to yourself and this world. The more that you are able to let go of this world to acknowledge God, the more that you will gain Christ in your life. I remember when I started to realize that I was becoming more like Christ and less like myself once I put God above my dreams, wishes, and will.

Give your life to Jesus. It belongs to Him because you are no longer your own person.

Become a prayer warrior

Take your place as a prayer warrior. God has equipped you with spiritual armor and weapons to pray through every difficult situation. As you pray, give praises onto God and thank Him. Gratitude is a powerful biblical principle. It is important to thank Him especially when you feel defeated, discouraged, or worried about a matter. Gratitude will immediately change your heart posture about a situation that seems to be hopeless.

Rest is also a powerful weapon! Rest in the finished work of the cross and trust that He will cover you with His love.

Run your race

In this life, God has set up a race for us to run ( an obstacle course). When you are running this obstacle course, you may feel like giving up because your legs may get tired and your mind will tell you to stop running. This is symbolic of distractions, unbelief in God’s promises, or wounds that can weigh us down and prevent us from running the race freely.

God’s solution when running this race is to remove life distractions ( free your mind), run the race God set up for you ( his destiny or plans), keep your eyes on Jesus, and He will perfect your faith in Him.

I leave you with this bible verse as a victor in this race called life:

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Hebrews 12:1-3

Run this Race and You will be a Kingdom Overcomer!
