I can say that having children is a rewarding experience for many women. You may have tried many ways to get pregnant but nothing seems to work. I want to encourage you to pray for the fruit of the womb and partner with the Holy Spirit for a miraculous conception.
What does God say about prayer for the Fruit of the Womb?
I will turn to you and make you fruitful and multiply you and will confirm my covenant with you.
Leviticus 26:9
The fruit of the womb was made to produce life and new beginnings. When children are born into this world, they are a sign of a new beginning coming forth. The birth of Jesus from the womb of Mary was a sign of a new beginning for God’s children to have a fresh start. We as children are a blessing to God. We are not curses but living representations of God’s image.
God envisioned His children inheriting his spiritual DNA and being the hand and feet of God. He was able to make His vision become a reality through the womb of a woman.
Eve the mother of all things: It even traces back to Eve, who is considered the mother of all living things. As a mother, she took on the role of bearing and multiplying fruit onto this earth so that one day it would trace back to the birth of Jesus. That is is a heavy assignment that she took on, but as a mother of all things, she was the catalyst for birthing multiple blessings for generations to come.
The fruit of your womb begins with prayer that will one day birth a blessing
I will turn to you and make you fruitful and multiply you and will confirm my covenant with you.
Leviticus 26:9
God listened to women and opened their womb to have children
Fruit of the Womb of Sarah
At the age of 90, Sarah became pregnant with her child Issac which means laughter. Sarah laughed when God told her that she would bear a child:
So she laughed silently to herself and said, “How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master—my husband—is also so old?”Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say, ‘Can an old woman like me have a baby?’ Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.
Genesis 18:13-14
God kept his promise and opened Sarah’s womb at a very old age. The lesson here is that God can do anything that you ask of Him. It is not difficult for him to cause your womb to be fruitful. Moreover, in Sarah’s situation he crowned her with the title ” Mother of nations.” She would fulfill the role of mothering multiple children ( nations).
I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.’
Genesis 17:16, NIV:
You will bear future kings
Sarah carried in her womb a generation of future kings and God called her blessed. Like Sarah, You will bear children that will one day be kings.
Fruit of the womb of Rachel
Although Jacob loved Rachel more than Leah, she was unable to conceive a child. Leah, Jacob’s first wife, was able to bear several children which I believe frustrated Rachel. Like Sarah, I believe Rachel questioned her infertility being possible.
In her desperation to be pregnant, she tried several methods to become a mother: 1) Adoption: by giving Jacob her handmaid Bilah to impregnate her. Bilah was able to bear two sons- Dan and Napthali. Then she gave Jacob a fourth wife to impregnate her with two more sons. 2)Fertility medicine: Rachel then tried using mandrakes ( an aphrodisiac or plant to improve fertility and conception) by telling Leah that she could switch nights sleeping with Jacob in exchange for the mandrakes.
Although, Rachel tried these methods, she still was unable to conceive a child. It took the act of God to listen to her pleas and prayers to open her womb. He fulfilled the promise of giving her a son named Joseph.
Then God remembered Rachel; he listened to her and opened her womb. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son and said, “God has taken away my disgrace.” She named him Joseph, and said, “May the LORD add to me another son.”
Genesis 30:22-25
Fruit of the womb of Elizabeth
Elizabeth was from a family of priests ( descendant of Aaron) and was a lover of God (followed the commandments faithfully and completely). She was the wife of Zechariah ( his name means, ” God Remembers “). However, Elizabeth faced several challenges in getting pregnant.
Challenges:
- Elizabeth did not have any children
- She was infertile
- She was very old in age ( way passed the age of safely having children or the prime ages of being fertile)

Scripture shows that God opened Elizabeth’s womb:
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Luke 1:41
Elizabeth was also able to recognize the blessing of having a child:
In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.
Luke 1:42-44
